The flu and TBI

I have heard that after suffering a head injury it is not uncommon that a ‘mild’ illness like a cold or flu can cause you more problems than normal and can also cause worsening of brain symptoms. It has happened to me before and this week was no different.

Before TBI, the flu lasted a week or so, with the worst part affecting me for about 2-4 days. Now that figure may double.

Today marks day 7 of the flu. Until day 5 I felt like I was in some kind of Groundhog Day – every day I woke up like it was the first day of the flu. He had body pain, mainly in his legs, and also headache and eye pain. And I spent every day feeling deeply tired.

The only thing that was ‘progressing’ was the chest part. I started with a sore throat that was already going down to my chest where it affects me now, accompanied by a phlegmatic cough.

I plan to spend 1-2 more days inside this without leaving completely.

Update – 2 days later:

I got it right. Today I am living again! Still with care and a 2-hour nap, but I went with my husband to the supermarket, we visited my nieces and I have been able to cook a little and work a little online.

Does this happen to you too? I would love to know the experiences of others to compare and help each other! Comment with your experience.
